im selling one of my spare blocks trying to clear some space and free up some funds for winter project, a bidder has asked if it has a "let" is stamped on the side, this one hasnt got a stamp has any one ever seen one with such stamp ?

It should have the engine number, a GM stamp and some other lettering. Has yours still got the white sticker on the face the gearbox mounts too, can't remember what that says?

He's probably wanting to know if it's an original LET block, ie not a converted XE or XEV (oil return drilled and tapped)

Doesn't an original LET bloc have an extra strengthening rib on the back near the starter somewhere?

As far as I'm aware there are two types of XE and LET blocks, early and late (late is often called the LN, low noise block or stamped HH8 I believe)
They are identical except the return for the oil feed. Or if not identical, identical as far as practical purposes are concerned (strength, fitment etc)
