My SE9
Re: My SE9
bit of an update thought it was about time to replace the plastic rocker covers today.
decided it was time to fit the metal cam covers

after a clean and sandpaper painted them

I've never understood why people go over the top with the silicone crap there was more silicone than gasket looks like the previous owner couldn't be bothered to buy a new gasket so just bodged it back together with sealer

any way scraped it all off cleaned the surface and fit the cover

before

after

only thing that lets it down is the oil filler cap and the old leads time for some magnecores i think
any way time to crack on with the rear one now

It helps them seal, thats why.

Re: My SE9
well with the V6 they fit new gaskets and then..............it still leaks!!! due to the plastic covers (usually) so the get out the instant gasket and try to fix the problem ...little knowing teh problem is not the gasket
Re: My SE9
with the metal cam covers if fitted properly you shouldn't need any extra sealant. mine have been fitted for over 18 months now and no oil leaks so far

BETTER TO HAVE A CALIBRA AND NOT NEED ONE, THAN NEED A CALIBRA AND NOT HAVE ONE!!!

Mate...
I've carefully inspected both Gaskets of the Plastic and Metal Cam Covers, and can honestly say...
Had the design of the Plastic Cam Cover Gaskets been similar to the Metal Cam Covers, being they have that added base,
then this common 'Cam Cover Leaking Issue' would never have been such a major issue!!!
I've even considered experimenting by grafting a certain section of both Gaskets, but mainly using the Vectra Gaskets...
I'll add more to this and post up some pics to clarify what I mean, very soon!!!

Mate...
Just a few things that came to mind, after viewing Your Profile...
I think that these wheels look the best, out of all the ones that were posted in this thread!

The SE9 Calibra looks sort of weird to Me, being that it's without a Sunroof... I've never really noticed this before!

What's that Yellow and White Part? Can You please post up a few photos of where it leads to, on both ends?

Is this Part on all V6's??? As I don't have this on My Calibra V6...

Re: My SE9
well whilst working on my car today the jack decided it had had enough and spat all its fluid all over the drive and went down rather sharpish
luckily i wasnt uder it as i was adjusting the axel stands to go under, but for some reason the air box was
and got crushed by the sub frame
any way ater much rooting and rumaging around the garage i found an old universal cone filter that i'd bought for an old car lol and some 80mm alloy pipe and trunking, and fashioned myself an induction kit lol and cold air feed

not perfect but will do the job until i get a new airbox
