Car Trailers

I'm looking for a new trailer to tow the cally and other similar sized cars. Ideally as light and low as possible - say a gross vehicle weight of 2000kg to give a bit of flexibilty. Can anyone recommend any?

Brain James are good so are Ifor, mine is a unknown name to be honnest mine is a bit high, but it has a tilt bed saves mucking about with ramps

just watch if you get a low one as the wheel arches can be higher and makes opening the door hard

Cheers Steve, yea I was trying to avoid the wheel arch issue as I currently have to climb out the boot on the current trailer lol. I was at Brian James earlier but will have a look at Ifor

i have been watching the brian james ones on ebay, you can get them where the mud gards on the trailer fold down to be able to get in the door. i recon £1000 to £1500 should see you with a half decent one

As it stands im looking to buy a BMW with a max towing of 2000kg. Based on the cally being 1405kg (Im going to weigh it tomorrow) then I need a trailer ideally around the 500kg mark.

Have you thought of using a solomatic A-frame?

In short no although Im not sure I would want to tow with one tbh. Not looked into them much but wasnt their debate on the legal what ifs of using them? I broke down in Liverpool a few weeks ago and the RAC wouldnt tow me back to Bristol with one so thats probably enough to put me off?

I weighed the calibra today and it came in at 1420kg with a 1/4 tank of petrol. Most of the trailer companies I have spoke to have been more than useless in providing unladen weights but I can get away with the Brian James A Max for about 550kg which will see me under the 2000kg limit. Something like this ...
