well what a week off that was

Took a week off work to get stuck into decorating the hall stairs and upstairs hall, a job I have been putting off for about 4 years. So started on Saturday last week stripping off the old wallpaper and then had to take the Sunday off as had to go away down south to pick up a car with the son ( an Astra H Sri 1.9 Cdti with exterior pack)

So after that it was back to the decorating on Monday, next job was stripping off the old varnish from the stairs (job I was not looking forward to) that took till Friday, so it it was time to get the old carpet off the stairs to get down to the varnish at the bottom parts...this is where the fun starts

ripped the carpet up and got down to the last stair and then started to take old the old nails staples out, I was the riser of the second stair and went to take the nails out. Then the riser just disintegrated !!!

I then found the wood work was well infested with woodworm...so it was up with the floorboards ...to find the main joist was split due to woodworm and also some of the cross joists

so today it was ripping all the old woodworm infested joists out, then spraying all the woodwork with treatment ..and will need to get at least 4 new joists (may just replace them all as only the 6)

Still after that I can then have the fun of getting back to decorating the stairs/hall
