New Car Advice

by bodgetastic » Fri Feb 10, 2012 7:02 pm

After 3 years of trouble free motoring with 'Old Reliable' Audi im going to have to get something else. The MOT run out and needs a few things doing but considering I only paid £50 and its probably worth 4 times that much in scrap it's hardly worth spending the money.

Problem I have faced for a long while is what to get and still cant make up my mind so hears what I'm looking for:

Reliable daily driver
Generally low maintenance
Suitable to tow the heavy calibra to shows
Able to accomodate roofrack for bikes / surfboards / camping gear etc
Plenty of power

Budget - Now hear lies the problem as I dont really have an idea, I would be more than happy to spend £1k on a car that meets all the above but I would spend upto £20k if it was a car I really liked.

I have a few ideas but I want to build up a short list of cars to test drive so open to sensible suggestions

Some useful suggestions cheers guys. I wasnt really looking at 4x4's but will have a look at a Porsche and the Touareg but think I would prefer a car.

I like the Silver DB7 mark although im not sure it will be practicle for what I want Mark and cheers for the offer Steve but that sounds like a little outside my price bracket for a Fontera

Well hears a few cars im thinking about.

BMW M5 e39, something like this http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3587099.htm

Porsche Cayenne Turbo S http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Porsche-Cayenne-Turbo-Tiptronic-S-500-BHP-Basalt-Black-Air-Suspension-/180810565091?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item2a192645e3

Audi RS4

VXR8 although I think if I was to buy one I would want the Bathurst and may struggle as they are few and far between and hold there money.

Still open to further suggestions and if anyone has an experience of the above

M5 best person to ask is V6 Ssteve But I'd go M3 the only BMW I'd buy.

Out of that lot RS4 or VXR8.

Im not a big BMW fan tbh although I do like the M3 CSL. Dont think an M3 would be suitable for pulling the cally though
