Re: Total Vauxhall
if your saying you wont feature things that have been done to death i hope i will not see another zlet corsa c20let astra/corsa/nova or any vxr with bolt on mods in YOUR mag any pratt can do it and its been done to death
as i said earlier YOU or TV as you claim it to be your mag dont feature or cater for older or more retro vauxhalls you print of any old crap with silly little corsa's with zlet or a c20let engine i have ought this mag for years untill recently as its BORING same old stuff every month
whats the crack with this euro look what a load of crap stupidly low , stretched tyres on a set of usualy ronals leave it to the germans ie vw fans atleast they have decent roads to cater for these cars and not destroy them
it just seems that dan the man wont take on board that its not just this forum that are fed up with the utter pish that is being printed in tv these days and that they rarely give the working class guy a chance anymore if your car isnt the usual crap they aint interested if your a bit different maybe you should re-name you mag TOTAL SHEEP as you all follow the same crap done thousands of times.
if your a 18 year old laddy with a corsa vxr and a silver spoon upbringing plus mummys credit card mods you will get in the mag where as people who spend many hours and many thousands building there cars get told what steve got told if its the leds that bother you turn them off problem solved not rocket science really is it
so to end my rant DAN keep on printing the same old p1sh you have been for the last few months and TOTAL VAUXHALL will be no more as the people i speak to are fed up with it and i wont be buying again untill it changes

Thanks you for your wise words Matty. I'm not sure which 'people' you're referring to. I can only imagine it is the voices in your head, as the circulation figures are on the increase. The mag's clearly not aimed at you, as you (nor the guy posing before yours) actually gets it. Your comments are so far off the mark it's not even worth my while counteracting them.
I'd like to congratulate you all on having the most hostile and blinkered forum I've ever been on.

i will still be buying the magazine mate its a good read when im working night shift.
looking forward to seeing what changes you make as some times a new outlook improves the content in a publication.
having said that i would love to see more calibras featured.
having owned my calibra for the past twelve years i have spent a small fortune keeping it running well and looking like a classic calibra.
steves car is lovely and he has spent a lot of time and money on it as have most guys on the site.
i would be very proud if my car was featured but it hasent been and wont be in the future probably, but it wont make me enjoy my car any less.
cheers craig

sorry missed the thunder storm bit you have just went againt everything you have said about not featuring body kits and chav stuff from yester year what the hell is that monstrocity on the last page why would anybody here want there road legal modifyed car assoiated with that thing just goes to show that total vauxhall have lost touch with what people want
i cant see why that THING in prev page is worth a feature it not even road worthy
dan i think i may go down the yard and stick the v8 out the old sherpa into a nova make it drivable round a track wont go well or handle, good chance someone will get injured but when do you want the pics as if that thing on the prev page is anything to go by i WILL be a feature for doing the above
what issue is it in so i can make a note not to buy what a load of sh1te tv is already heading the same as revs if thats the sort of crap thats going to be featured
what ever happened to super clean original lines nice wheels to compliment the car plush interior and some sensible engine mods think tv need to remember that modded cars started at home y owners before companys started to jump on the band waggon

what do we not GET dan chavy corsa's bolt on rubbish and some spotty teen driver but if hes got a credit card and very little taste hes got a feature if thats what we dont get then he haw im happy not to "GET IT" because if thats the image you want to associate with a vauxhall driver then im glad i dont "GET IT" open your eyes dan everyone who has posted here bar one wants it to change but your heads that far up your own arse you cant take a bit of critasism that maybe your decision was wrong so keep on defending your choice saying that steves car isnt suitable then print that thing last page all you have done is contradicted yourself
anyway good luck with your job at "TOTAL SHEEP"

seems harsh trying to tarnish all the members on here with the one brush tut tut
thing is sometimes you have to look outside the box and look away from whatever the trend is. not everyone is into the euro look just the same as not everyone is into bodykits and boot installs.
now maybe its just myself but after years of attending shows and cruise's like everything else there seems to be a revolution to car styling, one minute its in. the next thing its out on its arse so to speak. i'd done the big bodykits years ago before that i was into standard and original (which is what i'm trying to achieve with my own car just now, but with a slight twist)
to be fair for every one of us that has the passion to work on our car to some day get the recognition for our hard work is the ultimate goal. maybe one day bodykits, boot installs and other mods will become the in thing again and you'll remember Steve's calibra and hopefully you'll not have missed the chance to feature an outstanding car.
so i will continue to read TV every month as usual, in hope that one day it may just happen

Re: Total Vauxhall
Dan i'm at a loss now,
why do you feel the need to defend yourself so much when you could with your wife and kids ?
if you had given this site and its members some time before calling us names you may find us a very helpful club but as with my car you have jumped to your conclusion very quickly
you say that there are a wide range of cars in TV to cater for every one then you tell me that my car doesn't fit in with what TV readers want, you also said that there have been many cars you wouldn't have done features on if you had your way
My car may have m3 wing mirrors, wing vents, LEDs and a boot install but as far as im concerned it has only had subtle exterior mods done to bring it up to date, and have been told by many people that its a very good example and looks like it could be a couple of years old and not 15 years old,
If Total vauxhall was to do features on cars like mine i cant see you losing readers as you would still have loads of other cars in the mag so I cant see you reasoning for not putting them in

Thank you for having an opinion on my views without actually having any contact with myself

Seriously, what did you expect?? This is a Vauxhall Calibra website, we own this model of Vauxhall because 'we' want it over any other.
The majority of people on here know of the work that has gone into Steve's car, and you complain when we question your reasoning not to give it a feature....
Answer me this question Dan:
Over the last twelve months how many of the following models have been featured in Total Vauxhall
Nova =
Corsa =
Astra =
Cavalier =
Calibra =
Vectra =
Omega =
Carlton =
Senator =
Should be interesting.....
I used to own this Calibra...
I now own this one.

v6 steve wrote:why do you feel the need to defend yourself so much when you could with your wife and kids ?
Because that's how strongly I feel about my job. It's just a magazine to you, but it's my livelihood, and rightly or wrongly I like to defend it. I also like joining new forums, as I've met some really good people through my work, and many on forums.
I'm also very stubborn!

v6 steve wrote:if you had given this site and its members some time before calling us names you may find us a very helpful club but as with my car you have jumped to your conclusion very quickly
Granted I shouldn't have 'called you names' - but when my first experience of the site involves numerous people all (incorrectly) slagging off the magazine, and coming out with aggressive and downright stupid generalised comments I reacted the way I did.
v6 steve wrote:you say that there are a wide range of cars in TV to cater for every one then you tell me that my car doesn't fit in with what TV readers want, you also said that there have been many cars you wouldn't have done features on if you had your way
There is a wide range of cars, your car doesn't fit with what I believe TV readers want and there have been some cars I personally wouldn't feature. I've not contradicted myself, or deviated from that belief.
v6 steve wrote: My car may have m3 wing mirrors, wing vents, LEDs and a boot install but as far as im concerned it has only had subtle exterior mods done to bring it up to date, and have been told by many people that its a very good example and looks like it could be a couple of years old and not 15 years old,
It is a good example, but it does look dated from a magazine point of view. It doesn't look bad, but it does look dated. Car styling is a fashion thing (whereas engines aren't) and fashions move on. Sorry if you find it offensive, but the mag has moved on from when it featured cars with styling like yours.
v6 steve wrote:If Total vauxhall was to do features on cars like mine i cant see you losing readers as you would still have loads of other cars in the mag so I cant see you reasoning for not putting them in
Because every car has to be 'right'. It's very hard to explain, and yes maybe I do analyse it too much sometimes, but I'm in this job for a reason, and that reason isn't because my judgement's bad.
MarkV6 wrote: Thank you for having an opinion on my views without actually having any contact with myself![]()
I apologise, but it was late, and I was stunned by the number of aggressive, retarded comments.
MarkV6 wrote: Seriously, what did you expect?? This is a Vauxhall Calibra website, we own this model of Vauxhall because 'we' want it over any other.
I expected some flack, and I expected not everyone to agree with me. What I didn't expect was the level of hostility. Put it this way - I've been on a lot of forums as a part of my job - some for pleasure, some for business, and on numerous occasions for situations like this - where a disgruntled reader puts up a post similar to Steve's - In ALL the instances I've not once faced the level of hostility I've faced on here. As a result I drew that conclusion.
MarkV6 wrote: The majority of people on here know of the work that has gone into Steve's car, and you complain when we question your reasoning not to give it a feature....
I've not complained about anyone questioning my reasoning. I've given my reasons and justified them. You're completely entitled to disagree, and at no point did I expect that I'd come along and 'turn' everyone to my way of thinking.

I don't have the figures to hand and nor do I have any intentions of counting them all up. I'm not going to count them because I fail to see what that would achieve? It would simply reflect the number of feature cars out there. Surely you must be able to see that the most popularly modified cars are Astras and Corsas? Why on earth would we fill the mag with less common cars?? If I were to weight the mag any other way I would not be reflecting the best interest of the reader.
If it makes you feel any better I also turn down more Corsa and Astra owners than any other model!

I am a member of a few vauxhall forums, this on,vvoc,vq9,and a couple of others,I have read every Total vauxhall from the pre edition right up untill 3months ago when you the magazine had a vectra with a garish, graphics on it and yous as a magazine could'nt be bothered to make sure what was being printed was accurate,in this case it was bhp figure that the owner said was 250 bhp out of a 2.2,And when it was highlighted to yourselves the reaction from the magazine was as though you didnt care but anyway what you will find is that Total Vauxhall, seems to be loosing alot of the older more mature readers, who drive the older vauxhall,
And as to hostility towards TV, It isnt just on this forum It is on a few others aswell

That was before my time on the mag so I can't really comment. That doesn't mean I'm not embarrassed by it however, and will do all I can to prevent it from reoccurring. I know the Vectra you're referring to and there is no way that I'd have featured it. Indeed there are a lot of cars already shot and paid for that I simply won't be putting in the mag.
I've yet to encounter much in the way of hostility - quite the opposite. I posted on a couple of forums including MIG (which is one of the largest gathering of Vauxhall enthusiasts) and was warmly welcomed, especially by those who have followed (and enjoyed) magazine's I've worked on previously.
If in 6 months time you still feel that the mag gets its facts wrong, and doesn't cater for a wide range of tastes feel free to email me and tell me I'm doing it wrong.

Dan you cant say that TV has a wide range of cars then say that a car doesn't fit into that, that's not wide that's limited range
now you might be passionate about your job as i am of mine, but me car's are more than a job to me and many other calibra owners, and you have came on here saying its out dated, well i'm sorry its a 17 year old vauxhall that iv spent the last 4 years building and won the biggest Vauxhall award with this year not some tin washing machine with a vxr badge on it that iv sent to a tuning shop,
i don't really care that TV doesn't want to feature it as it was only a bonus if it had, and that iv been told by many readers that i would get a feature after winning the Chairman's cup, i'm upset by the quick way that you have came to your decision and your comments about my car, there is only about an hour from me sending you an email with the pics to you getting back with your no, know there is no way that you have spoke or looked at other pics before you answered,
