think its time to call it a day
Re: think its time to call it a day
Rich, save me the time it takes to read up on this problem....is it just turning and not firing?
If you remove the fuel pressure then put ignition on do you get pressure again?
Does the EML light flash when you crank it?
Do you have an aftermarket immobiliser? (including factory fit)

Re: think its time to call it a day
To re cap ...I think this is correct
there is no eml light on (did have code for cam sensor but changed it)
compression thats at 15-16 bar on all 6 cylinders
cam sensor (off vectra)
crank sensor (off omega)
checked all the air flow pipes for cracks and leaks
second hand coil pack and leads
new plugs and leads
New Coil pack
New Crank sensor
New cam sensor ( is there not two of these???)
ICV
Ign Amplifier
ECU (second hand)
checked
compression check on all cylinders
Checked the timing
and all air hoses
All plugs come out covered in fuel

Re: think its time to call it a day
and I still think your timing is out, pictures you posted showed the bottom mark on the cover mark, the correct mark is behind the bottom pulley
Re: think its time to call it a day
Thanks Fraz, so based on that there is fuel but no ignition.....
Is there an immobiliser ?
I had a factory fit one on my V6 (Meta system) and it was playing up, but as it's not 'seen' by the ECU it never caused a code.

Re: think its time to call it a day
If we get a weekend organised to fix it, I'll get hold of my mates Snap-On scanner kit again. I used it on mine and although it said the ecu wasn't supported it still read off the data from the sensors.
Rich - if the plugs come out covered in fuel, spark a lighter next to them to see if it 'is' petrol. Think I said to you it 'could' be dodgy fuel when we were at Steves.
Dry one off and put it in the plug lead and hold it to the engine for the earth. Then get someone to spin the starter, and you should get a nice fat blue spark on the plug.

Re: think its time to call it a day
when it starts (sometimes only and only for a fue seconds running) it keeps back firing into the inlet manifold
fraz have you got any pictures of the correct timing marks
yes it has got a after market immobiliser/alarm (clifford) but i dont think this is the problem as i have fuel and its trying to start

Re: think its time to call it a day
Rich, does sound timing from that description.
The immobiliser can also kill the injectors.
I have that pic somewhere, 2 secs

Re: think its time to call it a day
If that isnt timing related I'll be very surprised.

Re: think its time to call it a day
Sounds similar to the boys V6 when it slipped the belt a few cogs and bent some exhaust valves
Nothing succeeds like a budgie with nae teeth

Re: think its time to call it a day
As I said rich you showed a picture of the timing marks...only you had it all timed using the bottom mark on the cover...that is not the correct mark to time the engine when replacing the belt
the correct mark is behind the bottom pulley ...so if you have set the belt using the mark you used, the timing is out by about 10 degrees ( i think the mark on cover is that)

Re: think its time to call it a day
found them and its not the cove ryou used but the oil pump

this is wrong

this is wrong

Re: think its time to call it a day
wee search and
this is the correct bottom mark though its not very clear there is a notch in the crankshaft pulley that aligns with a notch in the bottom of the timing back plate ...if you look there is two red marks shown ..they both should be in line

cant really see for the pictures you posted but the front bank marks are

cant find a picture of the back bank but, if you look at the picture that was posted the marks are shown
