DVLA figures for Calibra's Taxed and SORN'ed in 2010
DVLA figures for Calibra's Taxed and SORN'ed in 2010
Hi guys,
If anyone is interested, i've managed to obtain a copy of the DVLA licensing (road tax) stats for 1994-2010
Filtering it for Calibra's shows the figures for all models up to Q4 2010.
Tables now updated to include both Taxed AND SORN'ed vehicles
PS looking at the figures, i think some of the duplicate lines such as for the 16v etc, represent the redtops and the ecotecs which had different engines/power outputs etc (hence have a different model ID on the DVLA database), but i could be wrong.
I've had to crop it back to fit, but it still gives a good idea of the drop in Cally's on the road over the last couple of years.
Add the figures from both tables to find out how many vehicles in total remain registered with the DVLA.
Cally Turbo's for example, are now down to 390 as of Q4 2010 (188 taxed + 202 Sorned)
Total remaining Cally's registered = 6,029 (4098 taxed +1931 sorned)
Taxed as of Q4 2010

SORN'ed as of Q4 2010

There are 2 lines for the SE4, don't know why (the odd one has a different model ID, so maybe it had a change of engine or something?).
The main entry states 118 left which sounds about right.

Re: DVLA figures for Calibra's Taxed in 2010
Great stuff! Well done. It shows that, even though the V5 does not break the type down into sub groups, back at DVLA they do.
Shows the total number taxed halved in 2 years. With, as you say, only 188 Turbos of all kinds left taxed, that is getting down to Cavalier Turbo numbers. Surely there can't be large numbers SORNed?
I wonder if the DB153, in with the other 'run-out' models is the LE. If so 15/51 on the road is quite good after 15 years.
Do you have the same figures for Cavaliers?

Yep i thought the same about DB153. The vehicle count (15) would be about right, and it would explain the reason for a different model ID.
I've just run a filter against Cavalier's, and it comes back with 24,105 Cavaliers taxed as of Q4 2010. The list of models (over 230) is way too long to post, but the most relevant one here is probably the Cavalier Turbo 4x4 of which it lists 110.

Re: DVLA figures for Calibra's Taxed in 2010
By the way, if anyone wants the original DVLA spreadsheet that contains the stats for *all* cars taxed between 1994 and 2010, you can download it from the DVLA website here:
http://www.dft.gov.uk/pgr/statistics/datatablespublications/vehicles/licensing/all-stock/veh0120.xls
Its about 9MB so will take a minute or two to download. Once you have it open, use the drop down arrow and search box on the model column to filter by model. You can filter further on the Make column if necessary, but not many manufacturer's make models with the same name
Quick Excel Lesson: To calculate a total for all models, you need to use Excel formula's (especially where there are a lot of entries - like the Cavalier). To do this, use the formula: =SUM(Dx:Dy) at the bottom of the required column to calculate the total number of vehicles, where D is the column letter, x represents the first numbered row that contains a result and y represents the last numbered row that contains a result. So for example, to calculate the total number of Calibra's taxed in Q4 2010 i entered the formula =SUM(D8:D41) into box D42, and this generates a total.
Hope that makes sense
