Re: Fog Lights
No not a bad one so far, apart from the above. My learner missed a guys brakelights coming on and almost hit him and he gets out and has a go at me! So I put him right about when to use them and he didn't like it and made a note of my Reg, so I'll get a call later from BSM.

Re: Fog Lights
he'll probably not do anything about it. i had a guy before christmas make a note of my reg after i challenged him, nothing came of it more of an empty threat.
worst of it was it was him that cut me up then signaled the w****r sign after i passed him. lets just say he wasnt long in backing down after i pointed to him to pull over at the next layby

Re: Fog Lights
you two need to came down you would never see me having a go at a fellow driver
as for the fog lights doesn't it need to be under 100m visibility before you use them? i can't be arsed when the guy in front turns his on "F*** SAKE YOU d*** I CAN SEE YOU NOW ALL I CAN SEE IS RED GLOW BURNING MY EYES" if i have mine on and a car pulls up behind i turn them off

Re: Fog Lights
I agree totally. £30 on the spot fine for using them needlessly if you get pulled by a short tempered copper. I once had words with a daft sod who was convinced his front fog lights were called "sports-lights"... HAHA!! Do the big glowing dash-warnings not give these morons a clue??
Good news is these guys are cracking down on it:

if that is the case why are most fog lamps lower than the main headlights themselfs. plus the reason that foglamps light beam points down the way is to reduce glare from said fog. think about it, its the reason why you don't put you full beam on in the fog because of the glare. so your hardly going to switch on lights that point up the way and blind you with the glare

erm....park your car in front of a wall and turn your lights on one at a time. Dip, main and fog. Watch where the light beams hit the wall....quite self explanetary. I'm not gettin angry about! I just did a quick google search and spat the words back on here....Not my rules pal! Its the law!

Re: Fog Lights
ok then heres what my internet search brought up
Front fog lamps provide a wide, bar-shaped beam of light with a sharp cutoff at the top, and are generally aimed and mounted low. They may be either white or selective yellow. They are intended for use at low speed to increase the illumination directed towards the road surface and verges in conditions of poor visibility due to rain, fog, dust or snow. As such, they are often most effectively used in place of dipped-beam headlamps, reducing the glareback from fog or falling snow, although the legality varies by jurisdiction of using front fog lamps without low beam headlamps.
maybe you are reading it wrong, heres another website to back up my reply of the fog lights pointing downwards and not up

Re: Fog Lights
depends how close your parking the car to the wall, the beam pattern is set to about 10 meters from the car
