Rear Crossmember

by Calibra_Mike » Mon Apr 07, 2008 7:15 pm

Yep two days after getting the car back from its MOT a strage noise appeared...

Ive managed to trace to it to what seems to be the rear crossmember bracing bracket bush. Does this sound likey?

When I had a mate rock the car I noticed the sound came from where the big securing bolt. To look at it does seem like there is no rubber bush there at all, where as in the haynes manual it looks to be a lot thicker...

Anyone had this problem? Easy DIY or an arse of a job?

yes that's the one you'll need if indeed that is your problem, but I would have expected the MOT station to have picked that up tbh

In the Haynes manual you can clearly see around half an inch worth of rubber?

And can you just undo the bracket to change the rubbers?

in comparison to the one on the other side how does that look, can't say I've ever changed one myself but it looks like it is just the matter of taking off the support bracket
