code 42 engine management light

can anybody help me to solve this code on my calibra turbo 1992 k reg 4x4?

i've disconnected battery light went out, took it for test drive she started coughing and spluttering around 45000 to 50000 rpm then the light came back on can any body help with this? code 42 again

Check the wires to the gearbox, not the switch on top, the other one, its the 1st gear switch so the car knows not to boost much. sounds like its come disconnected.

where is the gear box wires for the 1st gear are they front ,rear ,top or bottom of gear box
