Alarm System

Hi All,
How you doing, i'm new around here and I run the Vauxhall Opel drivers Club and I need your help.

I have a member with a problem with his alarm system on his Calibra (97) with the key operated alarm in that basically it does nothing! Central locking works but no life from the alarm. I am going to tell him to do the basic checks but where is the control unit located? and are there any common problems with this system?
