Help - ECU/Powerchip dramas

by poita » Wed Nov 29, 2006 3:01 am

I recently purchased a powerchip second hand from another calibra owner.
put it in the car, car didnt start.
put standard chip back in, car still wont start
recently found out thatt i may have been sold a dodgy chip, not happy at all!!!
old owner had to replace his ecu after installing it, so im even happier again!

now i have to buy a new ecu, have found one, just have a question bout numbers on it

Mine is
Siemens Simtec 56
5WK9043
GM Part# 90508119
JG
S95003

One im lookin at is
Simens Simtec 56
5WK9048
GM Part# 90508290
JK
S96009

Now is this going to work in my car?
The numbers seem to indicate it's a later revision of the ECU, can anyone confirm this for me?
I need to know 100% if i put this ecu into my car it will work.
It has been off the road since i purchased the dodgy one (bout 2 weeks)
completely un-driveable, so i need to know.
thanks for your help in advance

cheers peter

By the sounds of things these power chips are bad news, I've just bought one off ebay (few days ago), when it arrives is there anything I could do to check it before I break something? Its for a redtop engine if that makes any difference

Thanks
Rob

The bloke has 859 feedback and its 100% positive and all he seems to sell is chips so I'll take the risk and hope for the best!
