Alarm problem ?
Alarm problem ?
I can lock/unlock car and arm/disarm car and everything seems to be fine, but
The problem seems to be when i go to work in the morning i unlock/disarm the car get in and start up - no problem then after about 15/20 seconds the alarm goes off ! and stays on for 30 seconds, it will not switch off !
Its a Clifford concept 600, anybody got any idea's ?

the only thing i would try is to reset it if you can.
Or take the fuse out . But you must find it first.
And it might have battery back up.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I did find 3 fuses, checked them and they were ok but i didn't pull any out, might try that tomorrow plus it does have battery back up siren.
<!--QuoteBegin-MJ+--><div class='quotetop'>(MJ)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->does it cut your engine? i'd have assumed a high end alarm would have an immobiliser inbuilt aswell<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
It does have a immobiliser but it didn't cut out the engine.

Wiring wise they are fairly simple, so it is most likely a malfunction of the control unit, or the programming has got faffed about and it wants plugging in and checking/restting from scratch.
I have a 600 control box I can sell if you require one, though I can't recall if/how you reprogram the keys, and I doubt I can remember the valet code for it either :-S so a bit useless perhaps lol.

Ive tried resetting via valet code and tried factory reset via the two dash buttons but the problem still persits.

That's giving me an idea, will try the other fob to see if that makes a difference.

I think the alarm disengages with a different tone as the fob batt warning, however it may have something to do with the charging/faulty backup batt or something?
Have a nose in the manual/website see if there is a fault diagnostic report for that sort of error?
At a guess it could be possibly that the drain from the starter motor is drawing current from the alarm and without its backup batt it is resetting the alarm and defaulting to activated? so the voltage reguation section is picking up the change and setting hte alarm.. have you tried starting it, then immediately opening a door etc to see if the alarm is armed?

According to the manual the battery back up siren only draws charging current when ignition is on, As for opening dor to check it it arms will try that tomorrow as the alarm is bloody loud !

rob,
tina has the same alarm as you on her escort gti and it seems a right pain in the arse going off all the time like a alarm clock ,it might be worth taking to somewhere that specialises in alarms in basingstoke mate (it sounds very bizarre) so basically you are driving along and the alarm is going while your driving.
