New Member saying Hi! and asking for some advise on the txb
yeah, but at least now I know my options for the txb box, and as I'm thinking to get the engine up to +/- 400hp, I guess the best option is the 2wd conversion... I also have some questions about cooling, my fan kicks in at about 105º and its far to hot for me... I've taken of the thermostat, and made a manual switch, and I'm able to get the car around 90º, I'm gonna buy a cool thermostat, the one that ranges from 85º/95º, but I wanted the fan to kick in at 96º/97º how can I do that? when on the highway i go faster than 75mph(120km/h) the car starts to heat up, although i have the fan on... i've been told to buy a bigger intercooler(i have the standart one), but even so, should'nt the car (all standart) be able to at least go 125mph(200km/h)? what do you think I should do? and thanks a lot for all the help you've given me so far

The manual switch the best way to control the fan. A bigger intercooler will drop inlet temps which always a good thing.
Remember it's meant to run "hot" so the thermostat is designed to open when it does.. but you can get a cooler running one. I have one but haven't fitted it - no need as my turbo is not water cooled.

Driving an uprated turbo in 2WD is an absolute NIGHTMARE!!!
If you can afford an EVOVII kit then you should be able to afford a re-conditioned txb.
Then you can drive it how it's supposed to be driven
BTW Willisit's car IS water-cooled. He has fitted a monster turbo TURBO that is not water-cooled.

but the txb box can handle an EVOII? King Calibra said that it can only handle 350hp... and the problem is not the +/-1000euros for te repair... it's the trouble, I hate having my heart pouding every time I drive the car , I'm aware of the lack of stability, it's far more stable with the 4x4. I'm just tired of it breaking down all the time.
Btw aren't all turbos cooled by the intercoller? isn't it air cooled?

<!--QuoteBegin-King Calibra+--><div class='quotetop'>(King Calibra)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->But would you REALLY fit a used TXB box? Especially considering the relatively short (75,000 miles) average life span of a NEW TXB.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I don't know where you got that figure from? It depends upon how the txb has been looked after. I know several examples of 100,000+ mile txb on 300bhp+ Calibra that are still going strong

hum... thats cool, I'm thinking of getting the evoVI in the future, in a year or so... I just have a couple of questions left, if I choose the VTS system, will I still be able to turn off the 4x4, by removing the fuse 19? and about the cooling, is there no way to make the radiator fan kick in earlier?

You can fit a cooling running thermostat and fit an in car activation switch so you can turn it on when ever you want (there is a how2 on CavWeb for this IIRC).

<!--QuoteBegin-iagoktn+--><div class='quotetop'>(iagoktn)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->do you know any link to order the 2wd conversion? I has thinking when I had solved all my cooling probs, to fit a large intercooler, hybrid turbo, and and Evo VII from Wallace performance... so perhaps it's the best on the long run...<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

I'm not sure, but I think that this is the 2wd adapter kit.
Browse around the site, they have some pretty cool stuff.

I have good news, my mecanic called me today, asked me to go there, and so I did, when I got there, he showed me the txb box, that he had dismantled, and the seal, showed me also, the rubber thing(that thing that is soposed to keep the oil from going to the other side, i dunno how to say it in english) anyway he ordered one of those things, new from opel, and next week it is gonna be fixed. now I just have to improve cooling...
anyway I like to thank you all, for all the help you've given me!
if I'm ever on the UK, remind me to buy you all round of beers
cheers
