The dreaded click from the sunroof

by WillsToy » Tue Oct 03, 2006 10:16 am

As the title says, opened the sunroof this morning it raised up as normal but then when click :sob:
Now it wont close or slide back.
Will have to wait tilll i get home to use the manual tool.

So will i be lucky and just the cable sprung loose or will it be something esle?

Anyone got any solutions to how to look or do i need to drop the roof lining no matter what?

cheers in advance

i have a feeling you may have to drop the lining. can't see any other way in.

Bugger got home tried the crank handle that was in my handbook and guess what it's the wrong type...it dosent fit!!!!! s**t
And it looks like i may be lucky as the motor feels loose and moves around abit.
Looks like i may have to take the headlining down sooner than i thought now.
Did a search on sunroof problems, many thanks to wilkybar kid as his headling guide will be useful.

Nearly 9pm now, shall i start stripping it off or wait???
Forecast for rain tomorrow...eekkk

ive never looked but I thought that the "crank handle" for sunroof over ride was the wheelbrace?

theres a special tool for it, a lot smaller than a wheel brace.

if you have a decent allen key that'd probably do the job

I remember fixing mine, it only took a couple of hours. That was not rushing it.

Cheers for the info guys, took less than an hour for me to solve.
Manage to tighten the bolts the hold the motor up all were a little bit loose, one almost fell out.
Didnt even have to drop the headlining, was able to get at the motor after removing the sunroof trim and using a stumpy crosshead.
Only thing i had to do was open the sunroof fully with the crank handle to reset the switch so to speak, otherwise the roof wasnt fully shut when just using the button.
I think Animal describes it better in one of the sunroof old threads

It normally clicks out of place because those bolts have come loose, did you use thread-lock on the nuts?

its easy ben, just take off the bits and bobs and get someone to help you put it back up otherwise it will fold up.
