right more stuff done today to get it as road legal as possible ready for the kitting and painting :)

got a new cowling and rear ashtrays :D
Image

cowling was fitted...
Image

and so was the ashtray but i didn't realise there's a bit in the centre console which has snapped off too. I will be replacing this with a small bolt to hold it in properly soon :)
Image

my nice dry underlay was refitted...
Image

and my nice new carpet :)
Image

followed by the drivers seat...
Image

and the passenger seat ;)
Image

refitted the old headlights (will do the new ones when the cars back from kitting)
Image

fitted ze rear bumper...
Image

along with the cleaner numberplate light holders (might get some new ones soon)
Image

i then set about removing the bump strips from the front bumper so they can be sprayed separately. I hate doing this as the clips are all a pain to get off! finally got there though...
Image

and refitted the bumper...
Image

i then got the mirrors back on...
Image

i then ran the car for a while to get it warm. All the smoke disappeared nicely and it got up to temperature but still no heat from the matrix :(

only then i found id mixed up the pipe from the lower resevoir and the upper matrix pipe :(

Image

Will sort that out sometime in the week.

Almost ready for kitting now though so getting very close! :D

Cheers

well some of you more astute readers will notice that last week there was no progress on the calibra, partly because theres not a lot more I can do to it before the kitting etc and partly because I didn't stop all weekend ;)

Well its now official, tomorrow is the day its leaving me and getting its kit fitted and the repsray done :)

First off though my spoiler arrived this week...
Image
I know its not most peoples cups of tea but for the DTM look its the kind of spoiler I need. Slight problem in thatthe stands haven't turned up yet but im hoping they will sooner rather than later!

It will be resprayed in white though to match the car :)

So off it goes tomorrow and in the next 2 weeks im hoping to get pictures from the guys doing the job to give you all an update :)

Cheers

ok folks first day of beautification has taken place.

The kit has had a preliminary fitting with no smoothing or arch cutting taking place as of yet, and later on the bonding has started for the front bumper...

In this picture you can see the bump on the front of the arch which will be smoothed...

And thats it for today. As you can see its starting to take shape and im getting really excited!

Big thanks to Gaz and Robin for doing this! looking good so far and cant wait for more pics!

right well another mass of photos (cheers gaz!) coming your way!

Ill let the pictures speak for themselves here, as you can see the arches have been cut and filled, the kit has been filled and sanded (as you go down the pics) and (with the exception of one small problem and change of plan) things are going great.

The problem is that with smoothing off the doors the door wont open fully and will foul on the wing. After some inspection of the touring cars themselves they have the indentation on the sides too. So im hoping to have the front quarter filled but the doors and rear quarters left (with a little smooth over) with the dent..
like this...

Again a massive thanks to gaz & robin who are putting in the work!

Here come the pics... concentrate ;)
