Stereo Dead

Any electrical issues

Stereo Dead

by Gandalf » Sun Feb 13, 2005 8:59 am

I pulled my cd player out yesterday to sort my speakers out and one of the power connectors (yellow) must have come out (red/black/yellow are on their own block connector) I put it back and checked the others but no joy, I tried an old stereo too, but that was also dead, I assume the yellow wire touched something and blew a fuse, anyone know which one it's likely to be and how to tell? all my car electrics seem fine

thanks
Mike

I'd try fuse 8 first mate. It's a 15Amp one.

You should be able to see if it's blown. If you can't, just swap it with fuse 7.
If your indicators and brake lamps stop working, then the fuse is blown.

Put fuse 8 in 7 and the indicators stopped working, off to halfords then?

Have you got access to a multi-meter?
It'd be handy to see if you have any voltage on either the red or yellow wires.

I'll take it to my mate tomorrow he has a live tester, It was working fine but the cd player kept turning off at high volume because the previous owner had wired the speakers wrong, as i say when i took it out i noticed the yellow wire had come out of the block connector, since then nothing even with a totally different cd player
