DTM 16v
DTM 16v
So I decided it was time I got myself another cally as I have my mag blue 16v basically the way I want it and had nothing to fill my spare time anymore lol.
I heard on Facebook of a DTM 16v for sale local to me and as I had never seen 1 around here I went for a look. Body wise it needs a bit of work, quite a bit of surface rust and rear arches are scabby, underneath is solid apart from a hole in the inner wing on the drivers side with some surface rust on most of the rear suspension, the floor thankfully has been rust proofed at some point along with the brake pipes and the fuel lines have been replaced with poly items, exhaust is shot and wheels need a refurb. The main thing is the car is complete, interior is mint with no wear at all on drivers seat, it runs and drives, has quite a bit of history and only 87k on it but it has been off the road since 2012.
It was originally from Lincolnshire and then spent some time in Scotland before finding its way to NI. it's original reg was N744 BNO, maybe someone on here was a previous owner?
I intend to restore it to DTM spec with a few tweaks and mods along the way and will update this thread as I go.
Anyways here it is as I got it

Re: DTM 16v
Will be starting with getting the patch welded on the inner arch then stripping all the surface rust in below and painting and waxing everything that needs it. Will be starting to collect up any parts and panels that I need as well. Hope to have most of the work done bar the painting by early next year with a view to possibly having it back on the road in the summer all being well.

Undecided on what to do with the rear arches as I've heard mixed reports about cutting them out and replacing them on a calibra. Seems solid underneath, surface rust on rear suspension components it floor appears solid as do the sills.

Re: DTM 16v
Yeah apart from needing the arches done and the patch welded it's not really any bigger a job than my blue 16v was when I built it tbh. I must take a look at your thread Mark. Checked thru the electrical systems today and everything works (surprisingly for a calibra) including the sunroof, just needs a brake light bulb replacing lol.
