Re: Snowflake
Ok so I took the other half to Asda while she went in I stayed and let the car get up to temperature, once it was upto about 91'c I lifted the bonnet and the top rad hose looked fit to burst it was solid, I carefully unscrewed the header cap i think there was a bubble but not 100% as that was the only slight sign, but after getting the other half to apply some revs there was nothing no little or big bubbles, and the pressurised hose was now squeezable.

Re: Snowflake
Both rad hoses are hot, and the radiator, it is hot but to be really picky it prob not as hot at the very bottom but nothing like the old one was, the old radiator had a huge difference

Re: Snowflake
Do you still think it could be the head or has anyone else got any ideas? Just to throw it out there? May light up a bulb in some else's head too?

Re: Snowflake
What would I need to look for if I decided to take the head off?
Do you still not think it could be thermostat related?
If I was to take the head off I'd prob wait a while get some money together get my self a new timing kit, water pump, and head gasket kit and do it all at once, just having to put up with the problem for a while. How much do heads go for these days? If it's warped or cracked, cheap enough try and pick one up just I case I come across something when changing everything.

Re: Snowflake
It leaks when engine is off or cool and I squeeze on the hose but when engine is up to temp and hoses are pressurised it doesn't which is weird

when hot the pipe will expand which might be enough to stop it for a short time

Re: Snowflake
Ok so 2nd day in the new job goes to the car this morning thought I better check again, and yes you guessed it no water in the header took nearly 2 litres to fill, filled it up drove 8 miles to place of work had a good day comes out and thought I better check just in case and you guessed it again no water, topped it up again but I also spotted this on the top of the engine???mhas something blown?

When I got home I left the car running and flipped the bonnet up and the hoses were the most pressurised iv seen and felt up to date I struggled to squeeze it at all.

Re: Snowflake
Just going to throw this out there......Have you checked the rubber seal in the header tank cap is ok?
They can sometimes twist and leak under pressure, the leaked water from there you'd never find.

Re: Snowflake
Well nothing seems to be going right, gone for a little run this morning and exhaust has snapped looks like someone has previously tried bodging it up but not done well, held by a little piece of metal on the top! Which section is this? Or anyone with a nice twin exhaust and this section for sale?
