Got my new centre caps through the post... not quite big enough!

I think they still look good though, what you think?

Tyres arrive and are fitted Saturday. Sun strip fitted on Tuesday. After that its only the spoiler left!

So close!

Wow... massive day today... I may present this post in the style of 24... only being 9 hours instead of 24... This post will be known as 9!

8:30am *beep beep*:
Spoiler struts have arrived and I am very happy with them. They weigh 400 grams each which isn't too bad! Very strong too.
Image

9am *beep beep*
off to the tyre place up the road for my tyre fitting nearly an hour later I have some spanking wheels with some elastic bands around them...
Image

10am *beep beep*
Out comes the tyre wall paint and I highlighted some of the tyre for that racing look.
Image
Image

Now there is a gap between now and the next picture as it kicked off!

I was happily preparing the spoiler struts trying to get them ready to paint after a test fitting. My neighbor comes around to give me a hand and suddenly the thought strikes me...

IVE FORGOTTEN THE SODDING SPIGGOT RINGS! Totally forgot to buy any and I was wanting to get the wheels on the car today....

I phone around all the places which I think may have some on a Saturday and they are all as useless as the last!

12:30pm *beep beep*
I find a place which stocks some.... but they close at 1pm.... We jump in the car and go as quickly as legally possible *ahem* to get there on time. We soon realise with the gamut of caravans and dawdlers not even doing the speed limit that we aren't going to make it.

My neighbor gets a great idea... he rings the shop and asks if he can pay by card over the phone and them leave them for us somewhere... They accepted!

1:15pm *beep beep*
We arrive at the place and there are the rings! I was hoping at this point that they would be the right ones as we had nobody to speak to about them and a 20 quid hole in my wallet!

1:45pm *beep beep*
We nip into B&Q and find some L section steel for the brackets for the spoiler struts as well as some nice shiny nuts and bolts.

2:30pm *beep beep*
Back we are with pictures now! My neighbor started making the brackets with an array of tools including cutters, drills and grinders.

Image

Image

Also the spiggots go on the wheels... and fit!

Also at this point we had to re-tap a hole in the alloy which holts in the bolt for the centre cap. This took a little while with some chemical metal used for good measure

Image

3:30pm *beep beep*
We put all the bracketry together and get the spoiler on the car. It looks a little high to me dammit!

Anyway I would see to that later...

First off came the interior panel of the boot ready for the drilling.
Image

We lined up the spoiler on the boot and drilled the holes into the boot...
Image

Only to find that the rear hole goes into a section where we wouldn't be able to get a nut...
Image

We shall just have to see to that... out with the hole cutter!
Image

Huzzah!

4:30pm *beep beep*
I wasn't happy with the height the spoiler was sitting at so I elongated the holes... this should allow for adjustment and for it to sit lower on the stands as per intended.
Image

More sanding and they are ready to paint... Oh wait... I forgot the acid etch pimer for aluminium...
Image

Oh well the painting will have to wait until tomorrow...

5:30pm *beep beep*
Time for the centre cap decals on the wheels.
Image
Image
Image

And now for the conclusion that everybody was after... Finally seeing the wheels on the car. This will either make or break the entire car.

Wait for it.....

A little longer....

Tune in for tomorrows episode of 9 to find out what it looks like (im bushed now and cant be bothered to put them on tonight!)

Also tomorrow will be the centre console going in, door cards on, spoiler struts painted and more!

Time for some alcohol now!

Well now for the moment I know a lot of people were waiting for!

But just before that, another senior moment from a 24 year old... Went to halfrauds to get a new 17 socket as mine broke last time I was putting the wheels on, and to get some acid etch primer. I got two nice sockets, one with a nylon sheath... a nice scissor jack for the car being so low, I got halfway back and discovered id totally forgotten the acid etch!
Image

Its not been the best weekend for my memory!

First thing this morning I put the wheels on. Now I am pleased with the results and I hope you lot are too...

So there we go. Wheels on! I did a few more bits and bobs today too.

Door cards back on...
Image
Image

Centre Console back in...
Image

Bonnet struts on...
Image

And finally a test fitting for the spoiler.

Seeing as the painting of these damned struts are causing me so many issues Ive decided to get them powder coated! Hopefully this will be done by the end of next week.

So the remaining to do list has shortened considerably since the beginning!

1) Sun strip (fitted on Tuesday)
2) Spoiler struts powder coated and fitted.
3) Pick up show plates (Baumler ones)
4) Alarm On
5) Clean
6) MOT
7) Enjoy
8) Find a new project (Dont tell the Mrs!)
9) Get told off for finding another project
10) Start again.

Bloody well done to ya mate. Patients payed off in the end. Now, buy my 3.0 from and give it a 237.2bhp heart lol. Just kidding, i'd hate for mine to be stripped when it sells.
