well! long time no post! the last couple of months have been hectic and very skint at the same time :p

ive finally got a little money this month to do a little with the car, so although its not a lot, its enough to keep me going and keep your interest!

Can you guess what these ingredients make?

Image

Im starting to re-furb the wheels myself :) with a lack of money im trying to make the most of what ive got so may aswell give it a go!

First off got the wheels out of the tyres...
Image
Image

I cleaned them up as best as I could and tried with the old nitromors...
Image
it wasn't that good!
Ive decided to go at it with some brute strength and some sanding :p my fingers are now killing :)

some of the alloys have rather bad kerbing (not by myself id like to add!) so im trying to get the best surface to chemical metal to get a smooth surface...

2 nights and ive got 2 of the alloys back a certain way with 80 grit and another 2 nights and ill have the other 2 done.

Once they are back ill clean all the dust off and chemical metal the kerbing. Once done ill sand back with 180 grit (aswell as the centre caps which are new) and then use etch primer, high build primer then top coat and laquer.

Hopefully it will pay off but a long way to go yet...
heres how they stand at the moment...

Dusty work!

More soon :)

finally today I have finished the 80 grit on all four wheels! my fingers hurt but it was worth it :)

Image

Image

I also got out my new centre caps, but seeing as they are brand new I just keyed the surface with some 320 in order to get the new paint to stick...
Image
Image
soon ill have to amke the decision as to which of the stickers will go on the caps :)

Image

tomorrow ill rinse the wheels down (still a lot of dust on them) and then just go over with some panel wipe. If I get time ill get the old chemical metal out and start tarting them up!

right today ive had the chemical metal out and ive been filling the gaps! it looks very rough at the moment but as soon as i go at them with some 180 grit to bring it back level it should start looking a lot better :)

And my boss at work brought in his scalextrix version for inspiration on Friday :p

well..... finally an update :D the weathers picking up so I can finally get this project done!

First things first... the wheels are back from being sprayed and im pleased with the results :)

Image

I now have a choice to make about which centres to use with the wheels. All of the middle parts are stickers and the choices are in the picture below...

Let me know your favourite!

Next things are the decals and some tyres for these bad boys :)

well today was lowering day for the calibra. It signified the last major work to be done to the car before completion.

Everything from now on depends upon other people.

First things first... off with the strut...
Image

The garage is great for misrable days like today....
Image

Strut Out...
Image

New Spring compressed...
Image

And On...
Image

All this gubbins to put back!
Image

I have a few pictures of it lowered but the springs haven't settled and with it raining outside ive not had chance to get any comparison pictures from far away.

The results are looking good though!

Image

Image

Already looks lower at the back!

More pictures soon when the weather picks up :)
