Any electrical issues

Dancing Tacho

by peter1823 » Mon Sep 22, 2008 11:51 am

Gday All

Model 92 c20xe, manual

My tacho is dancing on idle and on acceleration, I have checked hopefully all earth points under bonnet and under the dash. Checked tacho connection behind the dash. Still dancing, it only stops dancing when you take your foot of the accelerator. Checked all fuses.

Any ideas, where does the tacho get the signal from?

Cheers
Peter

Its the loom earth points under the bonnet that will cause this sort of problem, two location points either end of the fuel rail (the fixing 10mm nuts).. you checked both of those?

I have the same problem if your talking (Tacho = Rev counter)

On a 92 plate 20xe also. Mine bounces everywhere when on tick-over and when driving, I've had my dash out, checked both earths that you've mentioned the one on the fuel rail and the other one.

I'm used to it now but would like the problem to go away. Any ideas on the location of the sender?
