C20LET Alternator
C20LET Alternator
After doing the cheaper of the two options and replacing the battery I think it's time now to get a new Alternator. I left the car over the weekend (unused) and this morning she's flat, I have been told the Alternator can actually drain the battery if faulty. So my question is, do Autovaux or someone similar supply them? and is it a pig to change or and easy one?
+ has anybody got the part number for it?
Cheers

I too got mine off e-bay for about £50 and has been fine since installing it, so I'd recommend the guy I bought mine off, one thing you might need it a long spanner to release the auto tensioner, I have one welded onto a length of steel
btw vaux would charge you in the region of £135 plus £35 surchage

Thanks alot, will poss call them. Phantom, can you remember who you used on ebay mate?
The one i found on ebay (320202182317) states this "THIS IS A FULLY RECONDITIONED ALTERNATOR THAT COMES WITH A 1 YEAR GUARANTEE, THE LUCAS EXCHANGE NUMBER IS LRB 196"
Must admit ive not looked at mine so Is LRB 196 the right one?
Robbiev I'm hoping you'll know mate.

usually if the alternator is faulty it will be the rectifier and should illuminate your red warning light on the dash when the ignition is switched off, if the battery is losing charge when the car is not being used then it could be other things like the interior light in the boot or the alarm

Noted Andy, i have checked for the boot light, wasnt that, and i have been just locking the car without alarm, so thats whats making me think outside the box, so to say.
