Changing Suspension

Right as one of my front shocks is dead I will be replacing the pair, at the same time I will also be fitting a set of new springs all round, lowered by 40mm not sure what its lowered by at the moment... what I need to know is what else will need replacing at the same time as in the Haynes manual it says a load of stuff will need replacing like snap rings, ball joint locking nuts etc... Does this all REALLY have to be replaced? Has anyone on here done this themselves before? What advice do you give as I will be doing this myself along with the help of my friend, both of us have done suspension before just not on a calibra...

TBh if I was stripping down teh front suspension, and I did not know how long the arms had been on there..I would change them at the same time. It is advisable to change the lock nuts for new ones...but few do (even I don't )
If your going to do the shocks then a few tips on this thread

mike
i was lucky to get a brand new set of cavalier/calibra wishbones and anti roll bar links for 20 quid from my younger brother as he bought a red 16v xe but sold it for a cavgsi
i replaced the wishbones /sleeves and new bolts as well as the new arb links . i also used the new locking nylon nut rather than the old castellated nut i found .
i think i got a howto guide from cavweb i think , did need to use the haynes manual

CV joints look ok, i expect ill do the track rod ends as I did them on my old cavalier and they are only a 20min job... Cheers for the advice guys, im looking at trying to get as much replaced as i can when i do it, just makes sense rather than having to come back and do it later...
