ive finally had to admit defeat and am waiting on a opel dealer to call me back with a price for cambelt change and diagnostic to find out what is causing the jerking. ecu light is now on constantly and getting less and less power every time i drive her. have checked all the intake from airbox to the throttle body and nothing seems amiss. hopefully they will be able to find the problem with the tech 1 and i might then be able to change it myself

oh sweet jesus!! 510euro plus the VAT for parts and labour on the timing belt kit, waterpump and drive belt. cudve seriously done without that.

thinking back on it i couldve sworn he just said 196 for the timing belt kit. dat sounds a hell of a lot

ok tink it may not be as bad as first thought. hopefully they will do the work if i can source the parts myself.
they said it wud take 2 hours labour. so say 510-[196(timing kit)+36(drive belt)+106(waterpump)] =172 {all exclusive of VAT}
so dats working out about 100 an hour labour. so if i get the parts myself. im working out about 80(timing kit)+0(already have drivebelt at home)+50(waterpump) so dat wud be 350 total say including fitting and even if i had to pay 40 for the tech 1 test then i wudnt mind. plus i reckon if im doin it that way ill just get the tech 1 done now and find out whats faulty and then order any extra parts i need from the same crowd online to reduce the postage.

Why you not reading the codes yourself using the paper clip test?!!! have a look in the general tech regarding 'if your mgt light stays on'.

Cheers

from what i know the throttle position sensor is the same on xe and let. better check codes though. anyway, paperclip test first. might not be what u think

well its turned out to be the coolant temp sensor and the air floow meter so nothing too major really

guessing it makes way more sense to just buy new rather than trying to save a few bobs
