GO GM Battery
GO GM Battery
My car has been declared SORN for a few months now and as such the battery went dead!
I brung it out and charged it for 2 days, I put it back in and nothing! Not even a spark!
The battery was of perfect health and even when they are dying they still charge some! The little gauge on the battery stayed black and didn't go green
Any ideas?

Sounds weird but I had the same problem when I bought mine.
It was stood for two weeks with a Brand New Battery on before i brought it. So I had to get a new one... the 2 week old one would not accept a charge.
Does your interior light work when you open the door...?
Why would that matter - i hear you ask...?
Mine didn't, then I found that when I came back to the car in the dark the electric window switches were illuminated. ???
Then one day I noticed that if you stopped and turned the ignition off, as soon as you switch the interior light on, the electric window switch lights went off.
Then the penny dropped - the interior light is the only way the car knows to switch off all the systems etc... so if the interior light door switch isn't working, there's a slow drain on your battery, lead acid batteries don't like being discharged fully and it kills them after a few days.
Good luck... maybe you have the same problem... if so just flick the interior light on and off when you get out until you get it fixed.

From completely flat the little indicator can actually take more than a couple of days, crazzzzzy i know but it can.
however you ought to have some power in it after 2days, so either the batt really has given up, it needs water topping up(if not sealed) or your charger is goofed. If you have a multimeter its not hard to work out which.

What does this mean? Bad earth in car?
I'm gonna give the battery a quick charge and see if I can get it started! Its a sealed battery.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Sequence should be ignition off, keys out, and when the interior light comes on the illumination of the switches should go off.
Was only a shot in the dark.. Think batteries tend to die when they've been left for ages anyway..
Good luck.

Point being if the door switch doesn't work - the car thinks you're sat inside still like if you pulled over for a break or whatever.
If you get out of the passenger side of mine the illumination of the window switches goes off, when the interior light also happens to come on. If it's just me in the car, when I get out of the drivers side the interior light doesn't switch on and the windows and window switch illumination remains live, unless I flick the interior light on with the light switch. I only make a point of it if i'm going to leave the car over night or for a couple of days..
I must get round to fixing that....
Have you got a 'security' LED in your car... If so two months of that could flatten and Kill the battery.. to the point where it won't re charge...

Your all gonna want to make a trip up here to give me a good kicking when I tell you what the problem was!!! :hidesofa:
It was a faulty fuse in the battery charger :dork:
Sooooooooo one last question can I borrow a fuse from the car to use in it as it looks the same :loser:
