New Member saying Hi! and asking for some advise on the txb
hi mates, I've been a Member for some time now, and I frequently come here looking for tips for my cally, for a start, I'm gonna tell you a bit about myself and my cally, I live in Portugal, and I own a Calibra Turbo, I'm sorry for any thing I may say wrong, my english has been better... well, I bought my cally 4 years ago, and altough it's like I'm in love with it, but it has been nothing but trouble for me, at first the engine was all screwd up, loads of oil in the water, and then the txb box got screwd too, is very rare here, to meet a mecanic that has ever touched a cally, needless to say that I've spent over 15 thousand euros, in repairs in these four years, first opel wanted to arse me up with a 25 thousand euros repair... i denied it, and from then on I've been from one sloppy mecanic, to the other, finaly I decided to stop the car and get a new engine, it came from switzerland, and has been working great eversince(some overheating problems, but I'm trying to improve that), the greater problem arose yesterday, when i started my cally, and it started lossing, oil, and soon i had no power sterring... I don't know how too say this, but the oil was coming out of the place that delivers traction to de front right well... nevertheless that is not one of my prime concerns, the txb box, is lossing oil from the breather pipe, and one mecanic made a temporari fix to that, by adding a litle bit of pipe, connecting it back to the top of the reservoir, and doing another breather pipe on the side, I'm tired of that, the txb box or power sterring pump is allways making noise, what I wanted to ask is if the problem is the seal, or the sterring pump, now can I test them, and how can I repair it? does opel sell, the seal? or any company there in the UK?, it suckz here, theres nothing for my cally
, it whoud be great if you could give me some advice, or some links, for the txb box, or colling...
thank you, cheers mates

I'm not a Cally 4x4 owner, but I've seen enough posts on here to know that it sounds like your TX Box is buggered. The TXB has always been known to be one of the weakest links in the Turbo Cally.
My suggestion is to hop online and get yourself a 2WD conversion kit and a Limited slip for the front. Since the car is very rare in your area, this will be much more cost effective than to keep screwing with the TXB.
(without the TXB you can also tune the car over 350bhp, as the TXB is only able to handle about that.)

Sounds like the seal is knackered.
You can pick up a 2nd hand tbx over here for as little as £150.
You can buy reconditioned ones from just about the best authority on them from here:
www.cav16.co.uk
There is lots of good information on that site and details on how to test it too.

But would you REALLY fit a used TXB box? Especially considering the relatively short (75,000 miles) average life span of a NEW TXB.
And if you do buy a reconditioned unit, if at all possible, get one that has up-rated internals. You will probably spend more coin, (alot possibly) but you will have less to worry about in the future, especially if you plan on boosting the engine output. (I've always wanted to see a Calibra 4x4 do a huge, smoking burnout!! )

Pretty sure I read somewhere that vauxhall don't sell this any more and that you can't get one from anywhere else either.

VTS ( vauxhall transmission services ) specialise in the 4x4 system from the calibra/cav, they do reconditioned 4x4`s std type or they do a `locked box` inside it its been changed to hold the car in 4x4 all the time, the seal isnt there anymore so cant fail.
If you know someone who can take the box out you can get the seals, its somewere in this thread

a locked box sounds good, I saw this site http://www.v-t-s.freeserve.co.uk/ on that tread, but they don't tell, how mutch it costs, to make the locked box I just have to order the seal, and replace them for the original txb seal? or is there more to it?
