I've got 7.5"x18" (et42) with 215/35/18 tyres with 35mm drop on my Calibra C20LET with no problems, even at full lock.

<!--QuoteBegin-jaybv6+--><div class='quotetop'>(jaybv6)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->I am afraid the 38mm offset will cause issues. They will stick out and hit the arches. Why are you going for a 38mm offset?<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
et38 shouldn't be too bad.
When I bought my Calibra, it was -60mm lowered with et35 17" alloys on.
It depends on the width of the alloy (and the tyre) as it could get very close to the supension strut. So if you know your maths, by changing the offset, you also need to change the width of the wheel so nothing rubs. So with 8.5" width wheel, the wheels will proably rub on full lock. I've always had 7.5" wide and hoave so far had no problems.
