Wobble at 60mph

by Legacey » Fri May 04, 2007 7:52 pm

Just had my tracking done and now when I get between 50mph and 60mph the steering wheel wobbles like god knows what!

Does this have anything to do with the tracking or could it be something else?

It's most likely that a wheel weight has fallen off. Hopefully a rebalance should sort it:)

Thanks. I've had no end of trouble with the front of the car. Got the tracking done mostly to set the steering wheel straight and know the wobble has started. Nothing but trouble!

pfft dont think its just calibra's!

had the wheels balanced on my range rover 3 times and its still not 100% vibration free.. had to get some special weights in the end as it kept loosing the clip on ones

If you only get wobble under braking it could be a warped disc.

Mine does it too, machanic says its the disc slightly warped although mine improved a little bit by changing the wheel bearing

As far as I know there are two types of balancing machine. Most garage use basic balancing machine which can only balance the tyre in low speed. The other one, brand called 'HUNTER' machine does hi speed balancing. Most vibration problems related to wheel balancing can be sorted out through those ' HUNTER' machine.
