v6 rear brakes

Imagethought id paint my calipers today since they looked a bit of a mess behind my new alloys, wish i hadnt started now, the pads fell to pieces as soon as i unbolted the caliper, got the disc off and the handbrake shoes did the same! disc is also had it, cant belive how many different disc sizes these cars have - should be 286mm on the rear being a 97 v6 but it only measures 270mm, vaux epc doesnt even recognise the part number stamped on the old ones - GM 90375510, anyone else had problems with disc sizes - quick tip for removing seized on discs - remove caliper and screw bolt back in, tighten it up and it pops the disc off, put something between the bolt and the disc to avoid marking the surface. Had the same problem with mine, they are only 270 if you get the 286 the part that the handbrake shoes fit in to is to small.

Blackdiamond PT No KBC599G12 well thats what is on the box.

No, the bit that handbrake goes in is not the right depth(to small).

ive got exactly the same problem, started as just replacing the handbrake shoes, now needs new discs and pads. bought some today not knowing the size issue!! why cant things ever be simple! so the correct size for the v6 should be 286? is that right?

No you need 270mm, all mags show 286 but most seem to need 270 but check just run a tape over them.

well all finished now, got the right pads eventually no thanks to autovox!!! drivers side was a pain to do, the disc was held on by the old handbrake shoes, even after loosening the adjuster off. im quit pleased with the results.

looking good mate!

got my new disks today hopefully fit them tomorrow, the pads you got eventually were they listed for a v6? 2 of my local motor factors say there is only one type of pad right across the range but both were the smaller type you had.
