Handbrake warning light

by Mantaray » Fri Mar 30, 2007 9:45 pm

I have noticed that every now and again the handbrake waring light comes on. Sometimes only flashing on/off, other times staying on for a few seconds. I have checked the fluid level, and I think the pads are ok. Does this light attach to anything else? Or has anyone else had this problem?

you'll probably find that the handbrake cable arms in the back plate of the rear wheels have corroded and have stuck, do you get a squeak from the rear when you apply the handbrake? only remedy is to strip them down and free them up, apply lots of grease afterwards but only to the arms

Fluid level within limits and handbrake goes all the way down.......

sounds like dodgy switch to me,
at the back of the hand break there is a switch with 2 wires going to it,this switch turn es the light on the dash on and off,i would look at the wires and switch before stripping the rear breaks apart and getting all dirty.
