just wondering if anyone has fitted a momo steering wheel to a cally with an airbag...the problem ive got is that the original steering wheel has got an airbag fitted and when you take the steering wheel off it has a black plastic donut thingy with a few wires and a plug on the end im assuming you have to fit this to the momo boss kit that would be fine if i could find a momo boss kit that actually fits the only one that momo do is the old type has anyone any ideas

I have a Momo steering wheel fitted to my cally and I bought a momo boss kit which was for an airbag steering wheel I think the part number is C6605 if I remember correctly. Fitted it without any problems. You have to take the black plastic donut out, Have some pics somewhere if you want

Ive got a momo wheel on mine and have changed a few firstly do all the usual safety stuff disconect battery, wait 10 mins disconnect wiring you can remove control module if you like its bolted under center console behind window switches.
The wheel unbolts from behind with a couple of torx bolts (they are recessed quite far into the back of the wheel so its a bit fiddly) the front of the wheel containing airbag lifts off, then unbolt and remove wheel.
I would reccomend a wheel puller as they tend to be on quite tight and it could come in usefull if you put the new one on squint and cant get it off again.
Ok to your original question the black thing with the wires is for the horn and wont work with the new wheel so throw it away, as far as i know you cant fit the standard horn connections to aftermarket steering wheels so will have to either mount a button somewhere or i would reccomend fitting an indicator stalk off a carlton, omega, vectra or other vauxhall model that uses the same indicator stalks but has cruise control and wire the horn to one of the cruise control buttons, which is how i solved it.
Many people say they wouldnt change wheels because you loose the airbag but really it looks much better, feels much better and you get rid of the horrible big binlid of a wheel vauxhall put in it.
Also speaking from experience I was involved in a head on crash driving a cavalier fitted with an airbag and my only injuries :- pulled muscles in right forearm and burn from wrist to elbow on the same arm (the one i was holding the wheel with) were caused by the airbag! believe me the seatbelt tensioners will catch you before the wheel does, unless you are a midget or drive like a wee woman with your face 6" from the wheel.
That said sitting that close an airbag would still probably do you more harm than good!.
Good luck, put up a pic when you are finished.

hiya steva, you say you have to take out the donut thingy but do you use it on the new boss kit coz the old style boss kit ive got has a copper ring on the bottom of it which hits the sprung pin..on the old cars there is a wire from the pin which gives you the live feed for the horn but on my cally the pin is there but no wire connected to it so very hornless, some pic would be appreciated coz this one is confusing me a bit

Hi Philly mate yes you take the donut out you dont need it

Right horn is easy there will be an orange connector on the donut what i did was cut off the all the wires off except the brown/white wire then attach that to the pin at the back that gives you your feed basicly thats it the horn should work off your centre push

nice one steva i know what your saying now and that saves all the chew with relocating a switch on the dash i dont know wgat all the other wires are for anyway,so basicly i will keep the orange multiplug but it will only have one wire coming from it which you connect to the back of the sprung pin....wo hoo time to go do some work big thanx to ya matey
