OMP front strut brace to a Calibra Turbo

Has anyone fitted a OMP front strut brace to a Calibra Turbo? I'm looking at it and it looks like were you are ment to drill the bolt holes will drill straight into the suspension strut top mount which i would have thought would be bad, any ideas?

Yeah think you will find that a strut brace purpose is there to hold the suspension struts and stop em from twisting.

I think everyones missing his point ......

yes you drop the suspension down out of the turret first so you can attach the nut and bolt, dont drill straight into the strut!

Ideal solution would be to do like Rob off migweb (sbd16v) has done on his astra and weld on re-enforced strut tops with the mounts built into them, but drilling and bolting is acceptable.

The purpose of it is to simply keep the strut tops a fixed distance from each other at all times, many strut braces on the market dont work though, avoid anything with a major radius in it, it just wont be rigid enough.

Has anyone got any picks? so i can get it clear in my head. My brace does not have the round mounts. Mines just has a plate with 4 screw holes which mount on the side of the turret. It just doesn't look right.

Sorry to hijack, I was gonna ask the same question, but I have a strut brace which bolts in two places, but no holes around the turrets, as I understand from what has been said above, do I drill through the strut and bolt it, or remove the strut and drill?

Well here is mine, you can see their is a bolt on the top,but you can't see their is also one around the other side,on a metal tab that is lower than the rest of the ring.

There is one that bolts on the front of the turrets. With a square mounting plate.

The one I have to fit is like that but with "c" shapes that go round the turret, mines an XE by the way, can I just drill and bolt or do I need to remove the leg underneath?

You don't need to remove the leg. When it comes to cramming the nut on the back of the bolts, just raise the car up and down slowly on a jack until you can get your fingers in with the nut. You will be able to get round the strut, just!
