squeaky noise when pulling away
get this noise when pulling away at very low speed, was told not to worry by one garage, water pump by another garage, alternator by somebody else......Yeah, whatever. Seems to me more like a belt slipping, not as loud though, how do I find that out? Vauxhall garage said it is not the water pump but did not have a clue of what it could possibly be. Passed the mot, it is a 16v 2.0 1997 with cam belt replaced a few months ago.

Mine started to make a kind of squeek/squeal whenever i pulled away. For a few days i thought it was a slipping belt. It turned out to be the clutch release bearing on its way out!! Buy the time i'd realised it was that, the thing had seized and was making the noise all the time the clutch pedal was pressed (which was what made me realise it was the bearing).
The car had just ticked over 100,000mile mark so i had the clutch done at the same time (cos replacing the bearing is the same amount of work as replacing the clutch, didn't fancy two bills for virtually the same job).
When i went to pick the car up i saw the clutch. The bearing had started to bugger up the ends of release springs!! So i was quite glad i had the clutch done too.
Hope you can track the noise down soon mate!!
