nasty knocking in reverse

right when i reverse on full lock i get a horrible knocking noise. i thought this was the wheels, so i made some tight fitting spiggot rings. and this hasn't helped at all.

Do you also get the knocking on full lock while going forward?

Does it happen when you reverse without full lock? If it does then that could be something wrong with the gearbox. Is it a constant knocking or just one knock.

Full lock both sides, ie left and right or just one side.

If it is just one side, check the wishbone rubbers, the bolts on the anti roll bar and the top suspension mount rubbers (bushes/donughts?) and the bearing that is inside them.

"oh balls!"

The only thing I can think of is one of the engine mounts may have gone. (but I'm clutching at straws now :frown: )

Does it do it with the old alloys, if not then it could be something to do with the offset or the width of the new alloys.

i have put it on full lock bth ways and cant see anywhere that it would rub. i might try putting old two on the front to give it a go. i know it does not need spiggot rings. as i made some that are accurate to with in 5 thou
