Wishbone sleeves

I always assumed you didn't have to fit these on new wishbones , but reading one or two threads on here I am now not so sure.
Here is what TIS says

my cav fail it MOT on a wishbone bush, so I replaced the wishbone complete, I got it from a local factors without any sleeves. I wasn't even told I needed them. I fiited the wishbone and took it for retest and it failed again. The test explained about the sleeves. So yes I would put them in.

BTW the sleeves are about 80p are pair from VX with trade club discount and about a £1 without discount.

Hope this help,
Sofa

they are not necessary. although the guy from the garage i go to told me the bushes will last longer with the sleeves. however, the instructions that came with the bushes said nothing about putting sleeves in.

I just fitted two new lower suspension arms but didn't see any sleeves!!

Would they have been inserted into the bushes already?

I've just fitted mine with the sleeves. If you got the arms from VX then they don't come with the sleeves.
My car a lot more stable under breaking now :-D

Didn't have sleves on my new wishbones when I fitted them... The ones that came off the car didn't have 'em either.

Have you seen how slim the sleeves are? I can't imagine they'd make much difference tbh

Haynes says - NO SLEEVES
Vauxhall main dealer workshop - NO SLEEVES
TIS - NO SLEEVES

Oh and if a garage fails an MOT on no sleeves he is not following the correct code as even a reasonably perished bush is 'advise only' - I've just had mine done two days ago!
