Rear brakes and handbrake

by Sackie » Fri Oct 07, 2005 3:15 pm

Got my rear pads done at Kwik Fit yesterday at a cost of £55 fitted plus VAT, thought that was ok for price, they told me that they adjusted my handbrake and that it was at its most adjusted position, so I asked them how much would it be to get that sorted, they replied "its too much hassle to do it!!"

Surley not?

Any comments, help to see if I can do it

Calibra Turbo, rear discs, etc

Cheers

replace the handbrake cable as it might be streched, or replace the hand brake shoes

depends what you do, hand brake cable is a t**t, lol

shoes, you take rear wheel off, theres a hole you adjust to let the hand brake off, then you can disk the disk off, replace shoes then put back together in reverse

thats the cut down version, but best buykn the haynes

just had my wifes handbrake sorted. The garage stripped out the whole thing, and cleaned out all the rust inside. No new parts required, just two hours labour @ £50.

I was gonna do mine myself but I'd heard stories about it being a nightmare.
