Steering fluid additive solved my problems

by debowen » Sun Aug 21, 2005 2:46 pm

I posted recently my heavy steering and 'moaning' on tight corners.
After reading replys and researching the problem, I found an Australian product called NULON G65. It is an additvie to the steering fluid claimed to soften seals etc. Well, I added it to the power steering fluid and next day noticed the moans had gone! A few doughnuts , both left and right, resulted in No Noise! A week later the steering was lighter and even 'flicked' back to centre. I'm beginning to think the alighnment is a bit towed in, as it's seems a bit heavy to turn off the straight and narrow.
I'll give it a couple of weeks to settle down, but the immediate results are great.
The mechanics wanted to renovate the pump and rack for A$600. The Nulon is A$12.

How hard was it to turn the wheel? Mine is very hard to turn right but OK turning left. I think the rack has gone but I might give this stuff a shot and see if it works.

I flushed my power steering fluid over the weekend and all my noises have gone away

The steering feels much more positive now and the early morning groan that I used to get for the first five minutes of a journey has gone
