Changing lower arms

Is it just a case of splitting the ball joint, anti-roll bar link then 2 subframe bolts?

Can I split the ball joint with a big bar or do I need the proper splitter?

How easy is the anti-roll bar link to do?

Never done one on a cally yet, but think thats right.
Do the antiroll with the car on the ground or arm jacked up horizontal, splitters are normally a pain to fit on vaux, unless you have a choice of 5-6 different types hehe.. i'm sure you can split it with a bar or something as i've never owned the right splitter lol, but it would be better if you did have a splitter i'm sure

i used the bar off my trolley jack, put it on the end of the wishbone and smacked it with a large hammer, doesnt matter if you dammage the joints if your fitting a new one with the joints and bushes on, you only need a splitter if you want to put it back on (even then you stuff up the rubber bit)., if you have a splitter get the long type with the slot in as the other ones you screw together dont fit (havent found one yet that does!)

ive just changed the lower arm rear bushes, one side was easy peasy the other was a right ***** (pain). lower arm came off easly enough, splitting the bal jointw wasnt too bad but i did try everything before having to go get a splitter i used the two prong type but it was a bit tight. i now know that the space between each fork needs to be about 18-19mm.

Dont be surprised if you need to buy a new anti rollbar stabilizer or two as the nuts were very hard to release, so inebitally they sheered off. (they cost me 15 quid each)

thing is with spilting ball joint espesially on lower arms they will all be different in terms of ease or pain in the bum to split em.

Best tool i used is the long bar with the fork on the end, u just hammer the poop out of it until the ball joit pops.

But dont use the ones with the bolt head on as these only really work with an airline and air wrench.

No need for splitting tool.

All i do is hit the bottom part of the strut with BIG hammer a few times then all u need it a long bar just to push the lower arm down.

Just be carefull when putting the subframe bolts not to strip the treads as this is a common prob.

Just use the collers from the old arms, they'll be ok.
