What could the clunk be?
I had a similar problem with my mk 3 astra (same front suspension) the vertical bush at the rear of the wishbone can go as soggy as porridge after about 75-80000 miles. When i took the wishbones out to have a look, the drivers side bush fell out, the passenger side one came out by pulling it by hand. Was a good job I had a set of bushes to fit at hand.
This cured the clonking sound. The wishbones complete are only about £30 and take about 20 minutes to fit if you can raise the car on a ramp.

Could the wishbone be my problem as well. I get a slight clunk when coming to a stop and also can feel every bump in the road even though the shocks are working ok.
How easy is it to change or how expensive for a garage???

It could well be, mine happened as i was slowing down, and when accelerating. As the ball joint was so worn when accelerating it was kind of moving backwards, hit the socket of the ball joint and clunked, and when decellerating it would the opposite. I took mine to a garage to be done. All done for me for 110 quid. Its worth having it looked at though. They stuck mine over the pit, got a crow bar out and had a look to see if there was any play in the wishbones.
