<!--QuoteBegin-nariman1977+--><div class='quotetop'>(nariman1977)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->How do you mean Will, bulkhead flexed too much?!! by runnig no PAS?!!
In the std setup with PAS, when you run it without, you still have to push the fluid inside the steering and the whole system to left and right when you turn it. But if you use a column thats not a PAS column, then you don't have that problem. Most of the problem then comes from how big your wheels are and ...<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

And there was an even earlier answer to the above point

Why don't people read?!!!

<!--QuoteBegin-ealex+--><div class='quotetop'>(ealex)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->so how do you reinforce the bulkhead? Any way of welding some bars or anything?<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
probably having a strut brace will help a bit.
Apart from that, ican;t say i have noticed it before. Something i will notice when i come to put the engine back in.

If you use a non-PAS rack from a Cavalier, make sure it has an airbag, because non-airbag steering columns are different.

Airbag won't make any diff to me at all as it has been removed already.

I can't understand how airbag makes it diff though?!! Its the rack not the column. I would understand if the column was diff, but rack?!!

did a check in this technical book i have on the cally, and it seems the only 2 things it doesnt cover are the airbags and steering. it says that those items should not be serviced. but i dont get why replacing them could be dangerous. i guess the only thing left is to take a trip to the breakers and compare them. will post update this week.

Sorry... airbag makes the column different (on non-airbag it's adjustable and a different diameter), so possibly just the joint at the rack, or the rack itself could differ.

Worth checking to make sure... but possibly may be okay

I'm not saying there is! ... but it is worth checking rather than buying one, then finding it don't fit!

I bought a brand new one off ebay for £20!1 Bargain i thought. Its a gen Vaux one and its for Cav Mk3 but he says it fits others.

Will try it out in the next few weeks once i get a chance and then let you all know.

p.s. Not ALL turbos have adjustable steering column. Mine has airbag but no tilted column. My 16valver had adjustable column and airbag!

ok. so the non-pas rack will fit. who volunteers to be the first one to test its performance? anyone here with too much free time on their hands?

Well i will be trying mine later on and will let you know how it goes.

But tbh, if you plannig on using your car for road, then its better to keep the PAS as its much easier.

But with the non pas, you get more feedback through the steering and i think the DRIVING is much more pleasant, but turnings aren't or parking
