Steering fluid additive solved my problems
it goes in with the pas fluid for the steering, if the steering is heavy, change your pas fluid, it will go much lighter, if you have a squeeking pump, id change it or if i was selling the car id put this in!
this additive works by swelling up and softening seals in the inside of the rack and pump, making them form a better seal for a limited period of time
the problem i see is that if you put an additive like this in ,you cant gaurantee that it wont keep softening seals until bits rub off, whos to say it was the additive that made the pas fail then was it going to fail anyway?
these additives ( all the formulas ive seen ( and custom manufactured for other companies ) contain pas fluid and 2-5% ethylene/proplene glycol ( brake fluid! ) the brake fluid works great as a paint stripper and dissolves most plastics and rubbers , thats how it works, swells slightly as in a low concentration, some contain teflon or other lubricants as well to mystify people and make them sound good! ( never been proved to do anything! ), usualy theres a nice coloued dye to make it look expensive and technical!
I wouldnt put anything in my pas fluid on any car especialy on a 4x4, especialy something that softens seals!, a softer seal will not take as much pressure without bursting, and the seal in the txbox is a weak point anyway
