Strut top removal

Can i unbolt and remove the strut tops without worrying about anything as long as the wheels are still on the floor?

If so how tight do they need doing back up?

Just unbolt them, the wheels dont fall off or anything, you have to hold the top of the strut with one socket and turn the nut with a spanner, i supose there are torque settings somewhere for how tight, but i just tightened it up by hand as tight as possible.
