Re: Front Shock top mount...
When my cally was stock the mount sat flush, now its lowered an inch, the top mount sits a little clear of the turret as in your very first picture, and its been like that for several years and there are no problems.
I spoke to my mechanic at the time questioing specifically this he said that's the way it is and should me a lowered vectra with exactly the same positioned mount.

Re: Front Shock top mount...
Thats about right the way you have it, mike. I've got lowered Eco about 35mm & it's exactly the same - small gap between the turret & the mount. It wasn't there when the car was on standard suspension.
Re: Front Shock top mount...
Dropped mine yesterday 35mm - and had gap as shown in photos - this was using the new top nuts supplied with the new shocks. However the original nuts are a lot thinner - so swapped new nuts with originals and plates are now sitting on top of turret where they have always been.
Re: Front Shock top mount...
Ive lowered mine 35mm, the second picture is the right way round. My plates sit flush on top of the turret even after i fitted the lowering kit.

Re: Front Shock top mount...
Update... Ive noticed when you the turn the steering the gap incrases or decreases depending on which way ur turning... surely that should be sat flush with the turret to stop that movement? also Im getting a really strange rubbing noise like rubber squeaking but louder, like a fat guy rolling about on a wet airbed... and I personally think its something to do with that top turret, or maybe a rubber has worn somewhere... this still remains a confusing state... if you can post a pic of ur car (anyone with a pic) showing the front top mounts on their car it will help clear this up...

Re: Front Shock top mount...
Anyone able to wrap this issue up? never really did get to the bottom of it... sure it should be sat flush or am I been stupid but if you were to go over a large bump or for whatever reason the wheels left the ground that would cause a bit of a wrack?

Re: Front Shock top mount...
ok have took these pictures and they are the same as the standard car that has never had the struts off or replaced

If I was you I would be checking the strut bearings as I had one of the strut tops sitting higher than the other, this was caused by the strut bearing being round the wrong way

Re: Front Shock top mount...
no shallow nut is below
Re: Front Shock top mount...
This is odd, My shallow nut is on the top of the plate and all of my calibra's have been this way with some gap above the turret. Isn't this in TIS or the manual? it would make sense to have the shallow nut below the plate as it has a bigger surface area which must spread the strain on the mount.
