Quick V6 Brake disk size question

by Cozy » Wed Feb 20, 2008 2:52 pm

quicky before i order some brake disks and pads for the cally

just need to know the size of the v6 rear brake disks as i want to order some from mtec on ebay

Fronts are 288mm x 25mm

Rears are 270mm x 10mm

i got this info from v6calibra.net

V6 Braking System
FRONT: 288mm vented discs (early V6's used 284mm)
REAR: 270mm solid discs with integral hand brake (shoe type )

as mine is the later of the models i assume they are the 270x10 or would i be better off just measuring them to make sure or did all V6's have 270x10 rear disks

Your info is correct for the later V6's

Front 288mm x 25mm
Rear 270mm x 10mm

I ordered a set of EBC Turbo groove rears from LMF. According to them, the later V6's have 284mm rear discs, so I ordered them! It appears there info is wrong! I can only assume these are later Turbo only, even tho I thought the brakes were the same on both models......

Not exactly. the bigger discs will foul the calipers.

One thing to make sure is you have the distance from the mounting face for the wheel and the brake disc surface on the rears as there are two different depths of disc with on being much shallower than the other as the later ones had the brakes discs from the first type of vectra gsi

Apart from the diameter they appear identical.

All,
The very late SE9s had the same discs, pads and shoes fitted as early Vectra(Saab). I don't think this is well known as neither Halfords nor 2 other local motor factors had this listed!
Strangely the later SE9s had smaller rear discs than the earlier cars if I recall correctly.
I still have the box downstairs so can check the precise Vectra / Saab year required if this would help.
