Any issues relating to suspension, steering and brakes.

redtop - eco

by luke_16v » Mon Mar 31, 2008 8:33 pm

i have a redtop cali, i had to change the susspension on front driver side, but had no spring compressors and was on a budget, so i went to breakers adn they had an ecotech there, so i had the sus off that,

i foned vauxhall and they said after 95 they are diff from eco,
my steering had been snatching from side to side since, maybe very obvious but would u say that was the problem??

has any1 else encountered this problem??

You would need to replace both sides at the same time otherwise you would get a dodgy set up... also its always a good idea to get the tracking done once you change suspension...

I dont like the sound of using a bit of rope... if that was to snap the spring can make a nice hole in your head... you can get spring compressors from halfords for £15...

I would say ur best option is to get a proper set of shocks and spring for your car just to be safe, shocks go for £50ish each and a set of springs can be as cheap as £60...

And you did change both sides?

If so then get the tracking done and go from there mate...

That could be your problem then, the reason you should replace in pair is to stop uneven wear, same with brakes really, you might find one shock is more worn than the other or something to that degree, also I dont really know what the difference is between the redtop and eco suspension but if they are slightly different then thats not gonna make things better...

Like I said when you can get yourself a new set of front shocks and a set of springs...
