OH CRAP

right on my way home from work yesterday came round a corner and all of a sudden i heard a sound like a flat tyre so i pulled over and checked them and they was all fine so i relised the hand brake and let the car free wheel down the hill and it was still ther so pulled up again i looked under the car to see if it was my transfer and it seemed ok so i popped the bonet had quick scout round at the drive shats and they too seemed ok in the end i lost my tempa with it put it in gear and took off thinkin (if it brakes it brakes) noise carried on for one or two seconds then stoped but now i want to know wat it was

please can anyone help
