Brake lights

Neither of my brake lights work. I have checked the ECU by using that paper clip method and it indicated that it was to do with the switch. I took the switch from its mounts so it was free and i turned the key on and off again. The checking lights came on and went off, as did the ABS lights. When i then pressed and held the switch, the ABS light came back on and the lights still dont work.

Does anyone have an idea of what this could be?
