Knocking

by Robs-se » Mon Jul 09, 2007 9:54 pm

Have had the drivers side wishbone replaced, but since i am now getting a slight knock when turning the wheel left and right, also when changing from first into second i get a knock as well. i'm now completely baffled as to what it is, oh and also driver front wheel bearing has been replaced as well.

Any ideas will be a help

Hi Rob,

I had same problem as you describe - I would also hear knock when reversing - spent a lot of time tying to find what is causing it and in the end it was simple fix - one of bolts that holds front wishbone was a little loose - not much so you can see it just a little but enough to cause knocking and when it was tightend knocking dissapeard... mine was on right side closest to cabin.

Maybe you should try to tighten bolts on wishbones to see will it stop - cost you nothing and that may be the cause...

tightened the rear wishbone bolt with a nudge on the breaker bar, but think i may have gone a little bit too far, bolt hasn't sheered but now turns a bit freely, so what the f*ck have i done. Knocking seems to have decreased as well. I'm baffled!

Aww... hope bolt or part where he bolts in aren't f'ckd - try with a new bolt and add one or two (donnt know the right word iin english) flat metal ring thing on bolt - maybe problem is bolt turns trough on the end of it so with spacers it wont come to that point when you tighten it...

sorted now, i stripped the top of the bolt by tightening it too tight. New bolt in and all ok.
